Well, the season started for me a few weeks ago, at least as far as my training goes. Every season starts with testing. Usually in the form of a 20 minute all out effort recorded by my power meter and emailed to my coach. Those numbers were good, down from my season peak, but they should be down...this has been the off season. Time to eat too much and ride too little. But all that has changed now. Today was a solid workout 65 miles in 3:10. Mostly just trying to keep the pedals turning over and using some force on the hills. A lot of my focus over the next week will be just long steady distance for endurance and force work for leg strength. All this to help me get ready for the race season with Trek and for pedaling a Tandem Bike for 150 miles in June. I am really looking forward to this years ride. We are already building an exciting team, lots of new faces, and lots of returning members. Of course, we have the group that won't commit to the ride yet either.
On the team front, the new website is up and running: www.teamuvapegasus.org
This coming week I a meeting with Scott and Tim to try and iron out some details on team jerseys and fund raising ideas. Hopefully we will have some great news out of that as well.
Training Tip of the week:Stretch and get your feet up!!
After a long hard ride, take the time to stretch really well. Usually about 10-20 minutes, focus on the major mover muscles of the legs and butt. After stretching, take 10 minutes to put your feet in the air. By doing this you encourage the clearing of metabolites from the leg muscles and enhance the recovery from the days hard work.....helping to get you ready for a second day of training and riding. It does not work as well as a profesional massage, but it helps.
